I find a time to visit, make in-person measurements, and better understand your space. Following the walk-through, I put together a planting design, budget, and install plan for your feedback and approval.
I aim to source plants from regional growers and incorporate native plants when suitable. Installation includes creating new garden beds, amending the soil, planting, and mulching.
In addition to first-year maintenance for newly installed gardens, I offer bed preparation and planting in the fall and spring, winter pruning, and summer watering and weeding for established gardens.
My background reflects an evolving love affair with plants, animals and the earth. In my twenties I found awe in far-flung places—mountaineering in Nepal or camping in Wyoming’s remote backcountry. Along the way, I was a farmhand and a fly-fishing guide, worked for a small oyster grower and a large chicken producer. And of course, I gardened! As a gardener, I find equal awe and delight encountering wild and beautiful things in the quotidian corners of everyday life. At Heath Gardens, I seek to bring that delight to your front door by creating approachable, personal outdoor spaces for busy people. I hold an MBA from the University of Virginia and am a Master Gardener in Northern Virginia.
